Established in 2017, PanArcticon Data Café is a retrieval, query and analysis system for social scientists seeking to collaborate around heterogeneous data, or to describe knowledge across these data by identifying standards for data sharing for arctic research, that is, ways research information can be potentially normalized to standard and preserved in interchangeable formats; developing a vocabulary for describing the interrelationships of heterogeneous social sciences data and information meaningful within the broad domain of arctic researchers, and; expressing this vocabulary in an ontology that can be applied in the context of a PanArcticon Data Café digital content management system.
Kjøpmannsgata 7 was the initial home of PanArcticon Archives + Data Café, an ethnographic respository for StudioPolar artefactual data and associated projects of the Global North. Established 2017, the analog Data Café stages warehousing digital and material forms of data.
